McAfee Web Gateway 7.0 (Webwasher®) – new version of successful appliance for Web 2.0

The new version contains many new features aimed at even more enjoyable administration and allow for easier and more detailed traffic management.

McAfee Web Gateway 7 builds on the successful history of previous versions, which are constantly placed on top of tests in terms of detection of malicious codes issued in the leaders quadrant by Gartner.

Advanced Hybrid Security: The widely recognized best-in-class web security solution now combines a completely new, patent-pending anti-malware engine for real-time content inspection with cloud-based intelligence powered by McAfee Labs including McAfee Anti-Virus with real-time Artemis technology, mobile filtering for remote users, expanded web reputation capabilities including geo-location and cloud-based URL categorization look-ups.

Control: A powerful new policy engine enables unmatched flexibility and control in creating and applying policy. McAfee Web Gateway also provides detailed control over how web applications are used, including popular instant messaging applications. Instant Messaging proxy protects most widespread IM protocols (MSN, Yahoo). Organizations can enable or disable specific functionality as needed, controlling who uses the application, and how it is used.

Robust Performance and Scalability: A new 64-bit operating system and re-designed connection handling result in greater scalability and overall robustness, improving performance on existing appliances. Native streaming proxy support provides additional access control and bandwidth savings for streaming content as well as reduced latency. Stateful HELIX PROXY from Real Networks are running as separate applications on the device. Users will also appreciate the new revised GUI.
